Whitehouse Institute of Design, Australia was founded in 1988 and is acknowledged for its high standard of design education. The Institute offers a Bachelor of Design with specialisations in Fashion Design, Interior Design and Styling & Creative Direction. An accredited VET in Schools Certificate II program is available for Year 11 & 12 students in NSW. Design Beginnings Workshops in drawing, illustration and design presentation are offered during school holiday periods for all ages from secondary school onward.
With centrally located campuses in the heart of both Sydney and Melbourne CBD's, Whitehouse offers a unique learning environment that encourages conceptual development, research and experimentation, and innovative design outcomes in a variety of studio and technical environments.
In 2009 Whitehouse had around 60 full time and part time staff. With student enrolments expected to continue to rise in 2010 more academic and administrative staff are required.

Academic Positions
Academic Staff - Bachelor of Design
A variety of teaching positions are available for 2010/2011. These include senior academic and lecturing/teaching positions.
The senior positions are the Program Coordinators, Styling and Creative Direction in both Sydney and Melbourne. The Program Coordinator positions are full time. Program Coordinators have a teaching load of approximately 14 hours per week (depending upon subject and mode) as well as academic leadership responsibilities. The Program Coordinator works under the Academic Coordinator of the Bachelor of Design Program
Additionally there are lecturing/teaching positions in both Melbourne and Sydney. The teaching hours available and the full time or sessional nature of the employment is negotiable depending upon the expertise set of the applicant and their availability.
The Institute invites existing teaching staff, full time and sessional to apply for additional teaching. Also the Institute welcomes applicants from industry who my only be able to teach a limited number of hours each week.
In line with the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Whitehouse seeks to employ academic staff with relevant qualifications to teach the Bachelor program. This is normally a higher qualification than the degree being offered. In disciplines where higher qualifications have not traditionally been available however other criteria, such as industry recognition or related qualifications, will be considered.
Whitehouse wishes to attract teachers with current expert knowledge and skills in the following areas:
Applicants may have one or more areas of expertise and should clearly indicate their primary area/s of expertise. In addition to educational qualifications Whitehouse seeks applicants with both industry and teaching experience.
Applicants not familiar with the work of Whitehouse students may wish to visit the end of year parades and exhibits in Sydney and Melbourne (Insert link) in mid November.
