Sam Woolf: Whitehouse Creative Direction & Styling Alumni

Whitehouse Alumni Sam Woolf is making global headlines as the creative force styling Grammy-winning rapper Doechii. Recently interviewed by Vogue Australia, Sam shared insights into his remarkable journey from Sydney’s Bondi Beach to shaping some of Hollywood’s most memorable fashion moments.

From Bondi to the World Stage

Growing up in Sydney near the iconic Bondi Beach, Sam always knew he wanted to pursue styling. Inspired at a young age by a friend’s stylist sister-in-law, Sam set his sights on fashion early, initially planning to attend the London College of Fashion he ended up studying at the Whitehouse Sydney Campus. Sam embraced the unexpected path that led him to New York, where he spent over seven impactful years honing his craft before relocating to Los Angeles in 2020.

Styling Doechii: Creativity and Authenticity

Sam began working with Doechii in March 2023, initially styling her for Billboard Women in Music. What started as a one-time collaboration quickly evolved into a dynamic partnership. Witnessing Doechii’s electrifying presence and authentic self-expression on stage, Sam immediately recognized her potential as a global star.

"She has that quality—the talent, the work ethic, the creativity, and she is always truly authentic to herself," Sam told Vogue Australia.

Advice for Aspiring Stylists or Creative Directors

Reflecting on his journey, Sam emphasised that celebrity styling isn't always glamorous. It requires resilience, long hours, logistical precision, and relentless creativity. His advice for Australian fashion enthusiasts dreaming of an international career?

"Don’t give up, pursue your dreams, take risks—even if they seem crazy—and don’t worry about what anyone else thinks."

Doechii: A Fashion Icon in the Making

Doechii's impact extends beyond music, with her fashion choices earning acclaim and amplifying her artistic message. Sam's thoughtful styling has played a pivotal role in Doechii’s rise, capturing attention with everything from runway-fresh Miu Miu ensembles to vintage Saint Laurent and edgy independent labels.

"An outfit creates a major moment when it perfectly aligns with the celebrity’s personality, the event, and the cultural moment," Sam concludes. "I like to work with intention."

Sam Woolf’s creative vision exemplifies the caliber of talent emerging from the Whitehouse Institute of Design—where passion meets purpose.
