How to Renew 'remotely':
A remote renewal means that you can renew your borrowed item online through the library catalogue without having to bring it back into the library. Remote renewals are restricted by your normal borrowing regulations.
Follow the instructions below to perform a remote renewal:
- Open the library catalogue: www.whitehouse-design.edu.au/library/library-catalogue
- Select "Sign-in" - located at the top left of the page
- Your username is "WI" followed by your student number, the password is your student number
- When you press Log On the catalogue will return to the original homepage
- Select "User" - located at the top left of the page, where "Sign-in" was - and your full name will now appear on screen.
- Click on the number next to Loans - it will be the number of items out on your card - this will bring up a list of items that you currently have a loan
- If you only wish to renew some of the items, select them by clicking on the box next to the item and once you have checked all the items you want to renew, click "Renew Selected" in the menu at the top of the page
- If you wish to renew all items click "Renew All" in the menu at the top of the page
- Click on "Sign-Out" at the top left of the page when you are finished renewing your books - if you have any problems email library@whitehouse-design.edu.au
Collections
Whitehouse Libraries use the Dewey Decimal System: each item in the library has a call number which can be used to determine the item's location. Items in the library are also organised in collections. Students need to take note of the collection that the item resides in so that they can locate the item. Below is a list of collections:
Main
The main collection is the largest collection in the library and these books may be borrowed.
Serials
The serials collection contains all the magazines and periodicals. The most recent editions are for in library use only, back issues may be borrowed.
Set Texts
The set texts collection contains all the set texts for each subject. These books can be used in the library only.
Reserve
Items in the reserve collection can be used in the library only.
Reference
Items in the reference collection can be used in the library only. It includes materials such as encyclopedias, atlases, dictionaries, manuals etc.
