Things You Need To Know


WHO CAN APPLY?

Workshops are suitable for all ages from secondary school onward. These workshops are intended for those with little or no drawing skills but the desire to develop them.

FOUNDATION & ADVANCED WORKSHOPS

These workshops are one week in duration and run from 10am to 3.30pm Monday – Friday. They are offered during the summer and winter school holiday periods at Whitehouse Sydney and Melbourne Campuses. Detailed dates and times can be viewed on the Events Calendar

Workshop fees, timetables & course requirements

Maximum numbers per class apply, once reached, new applicants are wait-listed until minimum numbers are met for another class. Classes are subject to cancellation if minimum numbers are not met.

Applicants must complete a Foundation course before taking the Advanced course.

The workshops outlined are non-accredited courses.

  • Full payment for short courses and art kits (if required) must accompany the Application Form
  • Art kits must be ordered at least 15 days prior to workshop. You can order your Art Kit on the Application Form
  • The following payment methods are acceptable: Personal or Bank Cheque, Telegraphic Transfer or Credit Cards (Visa or Mastercard). Please note: Cheques are to be made payable to Whitehouse Institute of Design, Australia. 2% surcharge on credit card payments
  • Fees are transferable but not refundable
  • All prices include GST
  • Prices are subject to change without notice
  • Workshops are subject to cancellation if minimum numbers are not met and a full refund will apply
  • Each workshop includes tuition and reference costs but excludes art materials. All students will be required to purchase or supply their own art materials

Art kits and course requirements

An art kit is available for purchase (indicate "yes" on the application form) or can be assembled by the student. Students must have all the required art equipment for the start of the short course.

Foundation Art Kit: $60 (all design classes)

  • 2B pencil
  • A3 cartridge paper sketch block
  • A3 display folder (10 leaf)
  • set of 12 water soluble coloured pencils (including white artist pencil)
  • No 6 round brush
  • two professional markers (in Cool Grey and Cyan)
  • two black Artline pens (0.2 mm & 0.6 mm sizes)

Advanced Art Kit: $80 (advanced fashion classes only)

  • Foundation Art Kit
  • set of 24 chalk pastels

Note: only one art kit is required if completing both Foundation and Advanced workshops

Paper pack: $10 (Foundation and Advanced fashion workshops only)

  • four large sheets of Canson paper (approx A2 size) in black, light brown, soft grey and dull red (or you can assemble any colours provided one sheet is black)  

In addition to the art kit materials, all students must supply their own:

  • eraser
  • scissors
  • sharpener
  • glue stick
  • ruler (at least 30cm)
  • water container/cup 
  • soft nylon paint brush (sml-med size). 

Each participant will receive a Whitehouse Certificate of Participation as recognition of course completion, as these workshops are non-accredited.

Students will receive guidance and information on the application process for full-time courses at Whitehouse.

CITY WORKSHOPS

These two-day workshops are offered during the spring school holiday periods in select metropolitan cities. Detailed dates, times, costs and locations can be found at City Workshops

KICK-START DESIGN WORKSHOPS

  • Metropolitan schools require a minimum number of 20 students
  • Regional schools require a minimum of 40 students
