FEE-HELP

What is FEE-HELP? FEE-HELP is an Australian Government loan for eligible fee paying students to help pay part or all of their tuition fees. You can borrow up to the amount of the tuition fee being charged by Whitehouse for your units of study. However, over your lifetime you can borrow only up to the FEE-HELP limit, in 2008 the FEE-HELP limit was $81,600. This amount is indexed each year. A loan fee of 20% applies to FEE-HELP loans for undergraduate courses of study. The FEE-HELP limit does not include the loan fee. The Australian Government will then pay directly to the Whitehouse the amount of the loan. Students repay their loan through the tax system once their income is above the minimum threshold for compulsory repayment.

Who is eligible for FEE-HELP? You must be an Australian citizen or the holder of a permanent humanitarian visa who will be a resident in Australia for the duration of your studies. Holders of permanent or temporary resident visas or New Zealand citizens are not eligible for FEE-HELP assistance.

Census Dates: Whitehouse is required to set census dates for each semester of study for the Bachelor of Design. This is the final day on which your enrolment is to be finalised; if you have not made these arrangements by this date, your enrolment may be cancelled. You need to finalise arrangements for your tuition fees by the census date. You do this by submitting a completed Request for FEE-HELP assistance form or by making upfront payment of your fees. If you have not submitted your Request for FEE-HELP assistance form by the census date, this will render your tuition fees payable in full.

When is a FEE-HELP debt incurred? You incur a FEE-HELP debt immediately after the census date for the semester of study for which you received FEE-HELP assistance. If you have requested a FEE-HELP loan, but change your mind about studying, you must either cancel your Request for FEE-HELP assistance form or withdraw your enrolment on or before its census date or you will incur a debt.

FEE-HELP information: For more information about FEE-HELP, please read the FEE-HELP Information Booklet available from Whitehouse or visit the Australian Government Going to Uni website www.goingtouni.gov.au
