The information below relates to applicants whose highest level of study enrolment since leaving secondary education is a VET course.

The following information is for applicants whose admission is based mostly on secondary education undertaken at school, TAFE or other VET or higher education provider (Australian or overseas equivalent) that was completed (or will be) in the current year or within the previous two years.

Applicants who have completed in the past 2 years or are due to complete in the year of application one of the following at High School in Australia, TAFE or overseas:

• Higher School Certificate (HSC) or TAFE Statement in HSC Studies or
• Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL)
• Certificate of Education within Australian States & Territories or
• International Baccalaureate (IB) or
• Equivalent overseas Senior School Certificate

An ATAR of 67.95* is desirable if applying with a secondary education only but is not the only criteria for acceptance. An adjustment factor to the application will be taken into consideration if:

• Applicant has completed a Certificate III in Design Fundamentals (or equivalent) at Whitehouse or at another RTO
• Evidence is produced indicating exceptional creative endeavours. Whitehouse will also consider: volunteering, internship, work experience, past/current employment and or extracurricular activities

Where you may not meet the entry criteria, you may also be considered for admission on the basis of identifying with an equity group or experiencing disadvantage. Whitehouse may then increase your selection rank for that course - this is called an 'equity adjustment'.

If there is evidence of the applicant requiring an ‘equity adjustment’:

• Applicant identifies as one of the following equity groups:
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • people from lower socio-economic backgrounds
  • people with disability
  • people from remote, rural or isolated areas
  • people who are the first in their family to attend a university or other higher educational institution
  • people from non-English speaking backgrounds
• There are specific categories of disadvantage that Whitehouse will also consider, which are detailed below. Your educational performance and/or personal situation prior to enrolment must have been seriously affected, normally for a period of at least six months, due to circumstances beyond your control or choosing.
  • Disrupted Schooling
  • Severe Family Disruption
  • Excessive family responsibilities
  • Personal Illness/disability
  • Refugee Status

If you are a year 12 student applying prior to official release of results, you will need to supply your most recent academic results (high school report or other). Whitehouse Institute can provide an early offer to applicants based on current academic performance. You are encouraged to apply early to secure your place with us. Enrolment will be confirmed upon satisfactory completion of your year 12 studies. If you are concerned about your ATAR, you are encouraged to contact Admissions to discuss your pathway.

Literacy Assessment

Applicants after adjustment, work and life experience applicants and/or International applicants who completed high school studies overseas may be required to complete a literacy assessment. This will take the form of a 1000 word written research task on a topic defined by the Academic Director. This is to support demonstrated academic research, analysis and writing skills in combination with the portfolio.

The following information is for applicants whose highest level of study enrolment since leaving secondary education is a higher education course, whether at a university or non-university provider.

If your last study was more than seven years ago, see the information in the section for applicants with work and life experience.

Applicants are eligible for admission if they have completed or undertaken studies in one of the following from an Australian, overseas University or other Australian Registered Training Organisation (RTO):

• An Undergraduate Degree or
• An Associate Degree

Your application requires:

• Your latest Academic Transcripts and Reports
• Creative Portfolio (6-8 pieces in any medium)
• Motivational Statement (300 words)
• Proof of Identity and Citizenship (Passport or Birth Certificate)
• CV showing academic, professional and work experience

This information is for applicants who left secondary education more than two years previously and have not undertaken VET or higher education study since then. This includes less recent secondary results.

To be eligible for admission, applicants must have undertaken significant professional/commercial practice for 2 years or more within the creative industries.

An adjustment factor to the application will be taken into consideration if:

• Evidence is produced indicating exceptional creative endeavours. Whitehouse will also consider: volunteering, internship, work experience, past/current employment and or extracurricular activities
• Applicant is of mature age
