There was much love in the air with the Whitehouse staff attending MBFWA yesterday to see the show of graduate Lyna Ty and business partner Melvin Tanaya. It was the first showing of SONG FOR THE MUTE at their first Mercedez-Benz Fashion Week. They have a directional approach to men’s wear that challenges traditional male silhouettes and the classic nature of outer wear. CONGRATULATIONS on a extremely impressive show that housed Kirsty Clements (Vogue Editor-in-Chief) in the front row.

Whitehouse was delighted to get its perfect fashion fix for breakfast amongst the 80′s floral and asian inspired silhouettes at the Zimmerman show yesterday. It is always a pleasure to see our graduates attending the shows that decorate the shoulders of so many of our students.

Whitehouse Institute of Design Australia was invited to have a juror on the comity that judged the 2012 Art of Fashion Foundation Competition. One of the winners in 2011 was Whitehouse graduate Lisa Barbarro. And this year Ryan Samways and Saskia Baur-Schmidt have made it through the second round.

Whitehouse associates and graduates attended the Saxony show last night at Sydney’s Australia Technology Park. The raw industrial space coincided with the emotive grunge of the androgynous men’s and womens’s collections. Whitehouse graduates Giuseppe D’Amore (Ultimate Creative Agencies), Stacey Isaac (Isaac Vivier) and Rodney Watt (Whitehouse Institute of Design, Australia) were some of the many stylish guests that attend the event.

This year Janice Lealamanua took the amazing challenge and journeyed to China to compete on an international stage.

Isaac Vivier

Whitehouse Institute of Design graduate Stacey Isaac has recently launched her exclusive label Isaac Vivier [IV]. After graduating from Whitehouse in 2000 she journeyed to Italy where the inspired pages of her creative narrative began. Stacey is renowned for her attention to fabric and form, along the way she has worked with such international designers as Michiko Koshino.

“After returning from italy I realised how lucky I had been working with so many beautiful luxurious italian fabrics giving a beautiful high end feel to all the garments I created. Seeing all the polyester and china made garments on my return to Sydney, I decided I wanted to maintain the quality of fabrics and design I had become accustomed to in Italy and create limited edition pieces for those who appreciate quality and style. In most cases each design only has 5 or 6 garments made which means often there is only 1 of each size or if I find something beautiful a one off piece. I have always loved working with leather and enjoy combining hard and soft fabrics such as leather and silk. I love the hard edge of leather and the beautiful drape of silk. All the labels have been hand stamped and show the number of garments produced giving the customer the feeling of owning something handmade, special and loved.”

The brand is definately for the girl who likes to push the boundaries and is a little rebellious. Everything we have done on the brand speaks true to that vision and its great to be able to push the creativity whether that be the garments, the styling, the photoshoot, or the parties! At the end of the day fashion is about having fun and doing something a little differently!

Synergy of Art and Fashion

Special guests included Akira Isogawa who also designed a feature piece that was auctioned off along with many others. All the proceeds of this auction go directly to The Sound World Australia Charity Foundation.
