1994 - Lucie Trinco

Graduating from the Whitehouse Institute of Design in 1994, Lucie was the 1st recipient of the Italian scholarship, an award which allowed her to study at the prestigious Instituto Marangoni where she completed a Masters in Product Management. She spent a year in Italy studying and immersing herself in the world of fashion at a time when luxury handbags were coming to the forefront in fashion. It's where her love for leather goods developed and she was determined to make that her speciality.

The next 3 years saw Lucie based  in the UK where she worked for Max Mara, Laurel and Marks & Spencer before returning to Australia in 1998. Having then worked in Australia designing accessories for brands such as Fiorelli, Jigsaw, Marcs, Saba, Sportscraft, David Lawrence and most recently as Head of Design for Oroton, Lucie was at a point where she was ready to do something of her own. At an age when her friends were having babies, Lucie saw a gap in the market for an on-trend bag that catered to the needs of a new mother. Realising there were no baby bags out there she would want to be seen carrying, Lucie knew she had to do something. "When my friends were begging me to design them a bag with baby features they couldn't find in a cool and luxurious leather handbag, I researched the market, and realised nobody was doing it well. Not everybody wants a gingham bag in blue or pink that screams new mother".
