2004 - Louise Hong

Louise Hong graduated from Whitehouse Institute of Design in 2004 with a Graduate Diploma of fashion Design.

During her time at Whitehouse, Louise won several awards for her Fashion designs, including a full scholarship to study for her Masters at the Academia Italiana in Florence, Italy, and an AFAW award from the National Retailers Association.

Louise worked at Honey and Beau as an assistant designer for two years, creating 6 seasonal ranges a year.

Louise about her experience in the Fashion Design Industry:

“Reflecting on my commitment to the Design industry and my Institute, I have helped at many catwalk shows and supported fellow Australian Fashion Designers whom I aspire to be like including Richard Tyler, One Teaspoon, Wayne Cooper and countless others. This experience has broadened my perspectives on the realities of the fashion world and what is required to be Fashion Designer in today’s industry. Included in my commitment to the Institute I have participated at College events such as the mid year and final parades these past three years. I enjoy working with my school mates and working as a team to put together a successful fashion parade.”

A list of the awards Louise has won since she started at Whitehouse Institute of Design:        

  • 2005 First place “Young designer of the year” Arcardi Fashion show     
  • 2005 Top 10 finalist representing Australia in the New Zealand Vodafone id Dunedin Emerging Designer Awards on the 10th of March
  • 2005 Representing the Whitehouse Institute of Design at the Power House Museum “Student of the Year”
  • 2004 First place scholarship to study a Masters Degree in Fashion Design at the Accedemia Italiana
  • 2004 Awarded ‘Student of the Year’ at the Whitehouse Institute of Design
  • 2004 First place in the NRMA Australian Fashion Design Awards: Bose men’s wear category. Nationally telecast on channel 9 on December the 4th
  • 2004 First place in the Nivea for Men, men’s wear competition
  • 2003 Finalist at the Flair Fashion Awards
  • 2002 Finalist for the cutting in edge Fashion Design awards Louise just finished her Master’s studies in Italy and is hoping to stay in Florence for another year, to experience more of a wonderful city
