Peta Baldacchino graduated from Whitehouse with an advanced diploma in Fashion design. While studying at Whitehouse, Peta had a goal in mind: to be at the top of her class and win the scholarship to Italy that was offered. At the end of her third year Peta won the scholarship and moved to Italy to study for her masters there.
In 2001, she landed a job at Marcs, a famous Australian designer for men’s and women’s wear. Peta was an assistant designer there.
After working at Marcs for a short period of time, Peta was offered the position of assistant designer at Austin Group, another Australian based designer. While at Austin Group, she got a promotion to head designer of French Kitty/ Morgan Spencer.
Peta decided it was time for something new and she found a job as design assistant at Decjuba. Decjuba is an exclusive design company for young women.
She just recently got a promotion to head designer at Decjuba and is enjoying it immensely.
Studying at Whitehouse has given Peta the opportunity to get to know the technical aspects of working in the fashion industry. She says it has given her a great appreciation for designs and a good eye on how to be commercial as well as creative in the very competitive industry that is fashion.
She still enjoys seeing all the little steps of the design process and seeing a design come to life. Even now, being a head designer at Decjuba, she appreciates the little things.
Peta is very happy where she is at the moment, being so young and already so successful.
She helped create the new look for Decjuba at the 2006 L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Week, which was very successful.
